Just an update on Hosting and Domain Names

So my domain name went live, it's not My Paranormal Life, I went with something different and I may buy another name, not sure yet.

So here's the deal, with Hostgator they give you a bunch of CMS (content management systems) pretty much just more advanced versions of blogger, I've chosen to play around with Wordpress first, it seems similar to blogger.

The problem I've just realized is that Hostgator have so many options like this that I'm going to be learning a lot of it for quite awhile, so the new site wont be live for a long long time.

Though what I've been noticing is that you can have loads of these CMS packages added right to the same domain, for example the Wordpress blog would be like this www.dominname.com and if I add a forum package I'll make a new directory like this www.dominname.com/forum. Having a proper website should keep everything consistent.

It's certainly doing my head in, but so did blogger when I first started using it, I just hope I complete my learning curve pretty soon.

Watch the Giant Squid Defrost

I saw a bit about this on the news tonight. They've taken a Giant and Colossal squid out of the freezer and are attempting to defrost them with as little damage as possible, then do an examination.

For a more detailed article click here.

The cool thing is you can watch a live stream of the creatures thawing as well as watch the examinations, all thanks via TePapa my local museum.

I couldn't watch the streams, need to update I think and well not enough time to figure out how, my brother wants me to go pickup GTA4 with him tomorrow at 9am and it's already 4am now.

Still enough time for a couple posts I think.

Just got me a domain and some hosting

I've been thinking about making a proper website for awhile now, but I'm not a huge spender, the thought of buying something I really know nothing about put me off a little, but I thought what the heck, I learn best when I'm thrown in the deep end.

Buying some hosting and a domain name.

This is what I just did, well a day ago. I went looking for hosting packages and it was tough, there are so many out there it's almost painful, it certainly did my head in. In the end I picked one from the tabs I had open which was Hostgator, seemed to have a good rep with all that I had read in searching, so I went with it.

I purchased the baby plan, shared server I think, which cost me about a 120 bucks for a years hosting plus 15 bucks for a domain name for a year.

I could have bought the domain name cheaper somewhere else and pointed it to the server (or something like that).

Now all I have to do is wait for my domain name to be propagated (activated I guess) across the web and I'll be ready to do a whole lot more reading. You have to wait a couple days before you can even start working on or even seeing your new website, well you could work on the site, but it's a little hard not seeing what your doing.

Right now, the idea of the whole thing I have and judging by the options available to me in my hosting control panel it shouldn't be to different from using blogger, though it looks like it'll be a whole lot easier to control and manage. They have many packages that you can install, including Wordpress, which hopefully I'll use to learn it all, not to different from blogger.

I'll keep y'all updated on the experience, I know I have a lot of blogging friends that may find this info useful.

Pimples on my Nose - SP

I've never had a problem with acne myself, so I wouldn't know much about the subject, though I did have a few that landed right on the tip of my nose back in high school. Though I have a few friends who battled with it back in the day, I wonder in natural acne treatment would have helped.

Instead they took some pill or something that just totally prevented pimples from even happening, not to sure what it was, but it can't be that good for them.

Traffic Plumets and I quietly sob in the corner

My traffic has plummeted over the last week or so, mainly due to Google re-indexing my blog and dropping the rankings for each of my blog posts, maybe it'll correct itself maybe not.

It's tough coming from 1000 page views a day to a couple hundred if I'm lucky, but hey, it just means I'll have to change my ways or come up with some better stuff for y'all.

What I think caused it is I'm a huge social bookmarking junkie, the only problem is I'm not to social when using services like Digg and Propeller. As a result I feel the link juice that was passed on from my submissions to those sites no longer cuts it with Google and my blogs rankings have dropped

Or it could have been the change to the layout.

Just have to wait and see what happens, though what I've learned from this is to not put all my eggs into one basket, diversify my traffic sources and to try and not force it, if it's link worthy content, it'll happen naturally.

And that's the thing, what you find here on this blog can also be found on many other blogs, so expect to see loads more original content on MPL along with the best paranormal videos and news I come across.

Stolen Cars - SP

My friends car got stolen the other night, they found it pretty quickly, though it was stripped of its wheels and radio. I guess they could have found it faster or even caught the people who took it faster if she had gps tracking.

You get left with such a bad feeling being the victim of a robbery, such a violating experience.

Arizona Lights - Added 5 more videos

Just added 5 more videos to the Arizona Lights post.

It's out of it just how prepared people seem to have been this time around, there's so much footage of the red lights it ain't funny.

I guess once more info is gathered we'll see just how far these lights traveled, if they were flairs then all these witnesses must have been neighbors, if they were lanterns, we'll have to see how far they traveled and just how long lanterns stay alight. I wonder if these two arguments will get debunked.

Mystery Lights Over Arizona - Multiple Videos

There seems to have been a mass sighting of some strange red lights over Arizona on the 21st April 2008, could this be the dawning of another Phoenix Lights event?

Here's a few news reports about the mystery lights, followed be a heap of videos of the lights from youtubers.

Man says he faked UFO-like lights - Looks like mystery solved, thought the lights of 1997 look a whole lot bigger than his flares.
Is a neighbor the cause of the mystery?
Unexplained light formations spotted above Valley -There's also a video at this link and some photos.
Mysterious red dots in the sky baffling Valley residents - There's also a video here to.
Mystery Lights Spotted Flying 'In Formation' In Fla. Skies
Strange lights reported in north Valley sky

Sure seems like a lot of witnesses of the UFO, but unlike the recent Stephenville sightings, there's a whole bunch of videos being posted on youtube. Don't know how long they'll be up, as I suspect people will realize they can sell them to the media.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this story, so you may want to subscribe to My Paranormal Life for updates.

Update: Just found a new video of the lights.
Update 2: Just added 5 new Videos.
Update 3: There's 11 videos so far, to many embeds for one page so I'm going to link a few through to Youtube.

UFOs are for Cranks and Weirdos

Stephen Hawking's recent comments on the possibility of life beyond our planet seem to have offended a few people out there, especially these few lines.

"We don't appear to have been visited by aliens," Hawking said, adding that he discounts reports of UFOs. "Why would they only appear to cranks and weirdos?"

It's a fair comment I guess, maybe he's not into reading up on eye witness reports, though just because he said it doesn't make it fact, so why get upset, it's just his opinion, not some mathematically proven theory.

I feel his words in the article are pretty realistic if you take into account our limitations with communicating with the universe, we've traveled bugger all into it, though we can see millions of years into the past, we're really not up to date with what is really going on out there at all. Primitive life near us? maybe, intelligent life near us? maybe not, intelligent life further out there, I'd like to think hell yea.

Hawking also pointed out that "humanity must pursue a long-term effort of space exploration that would span hundreds of years in order to ensure the survival of the species"

Hundreds of years at our current capabilities is going to take us no where fast but I'll stick with the common argument of "look how far we've come in a hundred years, imagine how far we'll be in another hundred."

Maybe we will have broken all our barriers in long distance communication and travel, maybe we will be millions of light years away from earth, so why discount that another civilization out there could have been there and done that, maybe all the good stuff happened millions of years ago.

I don't know, the imagination is a powerful thing, it'll take us far beyond what we already know, I just wish proving it didn't take so dang long.

Just another rant by Rand.

I'd so love to meet this guy.

Orange Chairs from the 60s - SP

With the time I spend at a computer each day I guess I should use a posture corrector. At this moment my computer chair is probably nearly 50 years old, it's a throwback from a 60s fast food joint.

I love it, it's all kinds of orange and swivels like tornado, but as an ergonomically designed chair it isn't doing me any favors.

4 Wheeling fun near Area-51 warning signs

I've seriously got a thing for other peoples home videos of their trips to the gates of Area-51, maybe it's something telling me I'm seriously thinking about taking this trip someday. Give me a hundred grand and I'll do it, I love comfort and gambling.

All the videos are from a dudes road trip to Area-51 and all the trappings that are involved.

Check the link to see other peoples tourist videos from Area-51, you can also contribute to the collection by adding to this thread on the forums.

A little tour of the rooms and restaurant at the Little A’Le’Inn, he so could have had a flush.

The rest of the videos are pretty long, they're on the road type videos set to music. Watched them all and got all nostalgic, remembering the 90s and all that good entertainment.

Paranormal Photo Hoax Contest 2008

About.com Paranormal is running their fifth annual Paranormal Photo Hoax contest, I've been following it ever since I knew about it.

This year I think I may even submit a photo, gotta rack my brain, because judging from previous years the competition seems pretty tough.

Entries to the contest close May 31, 2008 and I'm not to sure how to submit them, probably just email them in.

Shadows in the Dark, 7 hours in

Well I started listening at about 11:30pm NZ time, I thought I could do it, I thought I could listen right to the end, but the sand mans about to take me out and hopefully I'll be up to catch the end of the show.

It's been great so far and I even won one of their hourly give aways, woot the loot for me.

You should all definitely check it out, they've had some great guest with more to come.

BBC coverage of U.S Exoskeleton

Still not enough time, check out my previous post about the Exoskeletion here.

And you check out the newest exoskeleton video over at BBC, not the best streaming video player I've encountered, but it's worth it.

Extremely Clear UFO Footage

Or could it be an extremely well done fake.

Not enough time to get into it now, so I'll edit this post later after I look into it more.

Funny T-shirts - SP

Something that usually cheers me up are funny t-shirts, especially when I meet up with a friend whose wearing a t-shirt saying something that I wouldn't possibly imagine they'd wear.

Though there's the patriotic t-shirts as well, down here in NZ we have a lot of these, but they're not what you'd imagine, they're very subtle and usually very ambiguous, so if you didn't already know what they meant or weren't from NZ you'd probably just think "Nice design".

North Padre Rentals - SP

North Padre Island rentals looks like a nice place. Maybe I should make this a holiday blog, I seem to be getting a lot of these... Naa, no way.

Though with winter here, I find myself dreaming a lot more of taking a vacation to a nice warm location, but alas I'm poor and can't afford any of that right now.

Is anyone else feeling the squeeze of the worlds current economic crises? I know I am and so is my family.

Tough times for sure.

Paranormal Reshuffle

Hope y'all like the reshuffle, I've been meaning to do it for awhile, still got a few tweaks here and there to do and a little culling of what I don't need, but for the most part it'll stay the same.

I know there's been a lot less posting around here lately and it's mainly due to creating original content for the blog, I've been saying that for years now and well, that's what it takes for me to get warmed up, years lol.

Well, I've been working on a series of drawings for something that will hopefully be very useful, as well as a web comic and more videos. Hopefully I'll have them start appearing on here in a months time.

Other than that I hope to be back to my normal rhythm in the next few days, winters getting me down.

Driving Range - SP

I've only gone to a driving range once, 10 bucks a hundred balls and a beat up van on the range. Spent ages trying to get the ball out there, hit the van a couple times and that's the extent of my golfing knowledge. The golf equipment at the driving range was pretty old, so I'm guessing that contributed to how bad I was, then again, I'm probably just bad.

My friends right into golf, though I'd rather go to the beach or for a bush walk.

A New Earth - SP

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle is the newest selection from Oprahs Book Club.

In a nutshell this book exposes our ego centric culture and supposedly leads us gently into a new consciousness.

I haven't read the book at all, but judging from the blurb he's right on the money as far as the blurb's concerned.

You see the news and most of it's sports, second is celebrity with about fifteen minutes of actual newsworthy news. People seem to be in their own little worlds, shocked at the state of things then going on their way to do what needs to be done for themselves.

It's not bad at all, we have the freedom to do this, it's just with things the way they are right now, it may not be the best way to be with what's to come.

Times are tough and I think it's going to get whole worse.

David Adair 's tale of Area-51

Quite an amazing story. At the age of 17 David was scooped up by some MiB just before testing out his new fangled rocket and taken to Area-51 where he was shown an engine similar to his own creation.

The interviews almost 40 minutes long, but it's a great story.

I'm glad I made that Paranormal Promotion post, if I hadn't I probably wouldn't have known about Shadows in the Dark and their one year anniversary show which is going to be a monster spanning 24-hours.

Paranormal Rest

Was gonna go full steam ahead tonight, been a little occupied lately. Working on a few things that hopefully everyone will enjoy.

But until them remember to check out Our Paranormal Boards, moving along quite nicely.

If you've got any photos on flickr you may want to add them to the Scary Creepy Weird group I've got set-up there.

Also if you have a paranormal event you want to promote them check out my Paranormal Promotion post for details.

Well, see y'all in the new dawn.

Thoughts of Villas - SP

I don't know about you but these Tuscany villa rentals look awesome. When I'm rich I'd definitely be spending time in a place like this. But you know, I'd probably waste all my time lounging around the pool.

Things are getting a little tense around my parts, to city for my liking, need to spend me some time in the country.

Well, one day hopefully.

Footage of a mile wide UFO

The following video looks a lot like the Italian Air Force Video, same grainy, blurry quality, though good enough not to look deliberate.

At first I thought there may have been a window involved as the camera man's tracking a couple small lights, the mile wide UFO appears near the end and it looks a little computer generated to me.

Cool video though, they're getting better that's for sure, well unless it's real that is.

UFO over the Pacific

This footage was shot from a plane flying over the pacific, you can see a number of red lights, but they're pretty faint. Pretty cool UFO footage really.

"This is the unedited, unenhanced version. We saw this object from a plane, the pilot tells me we were at about 20,000 ft. at the time - flying from Toyko to Vancouver. Digital camera, so its incredibly grainy and lower quality. It was much more spectacular being there. It lasted about two minutes.. ran out of room halfway through taping this unfortunately. It seemed to just fade away instantly after the video.
FILMED the morning of April 6th, 0100 PST."
- Youtube Description.

Airborne UFO over Pacific

The Paranormal Ratio

As some of you know I'm more of a video blogger, I started this blog mainly to post ghost videos that I've found in my online travels. The problem is compared to UFOs, Bigfoot and others of the like, ghost footage comes in last in terms of the amount out there.

The top draw are UFO videos, there's so much available online and not just on youtube. You could possibly spend a life time watching it all. There's usually a new hot UFO video appearing online every other day.

The second I'd say are Bigfoot videos, even though most are faked. It seems that at least once a month there's a hot new Bigfoot video to talk about.

Which leaves Ghost footage in third place. Well I'd say there's a lot more photographs than the first two, but footage is hard to come by. One week you could have multiple new videos appearing online and then have a few months of nothing.

Well, I don't know where I was going with this, but it should give you an idea of why I post a lot of UFO videos on this blog, if I didn't I wouldn't know when my next post would be.

This has been a rant by Rand.

Fireball over New Zealand

You can watch this fireball in the sky video over at New Zealand's TV3 news site. The fireball looks pretty much exactly like the Polk County Fireball Video.

Great play of sunlight.

More than one Yowie in the photo?

Just having a little fun, no disrespect intended. Regarding the actual part of the photo that's supposed to be real, I really can't make heads or tales of it.

Scene from Easy Rider about aliens and UFOs

I've only seen Easy Rider once, I really can't remember it that well, but this is a great scene where Jack Nicholson's character explains to Dennis Hopper's character all about UFOs and aliens.

Some of it rung true to.

Luxury Vacations - SP

I love luxury vacations, well I guess I would, I think I had a taste of luxury when I stayed at a resort over Christmas time. I wouldn't mind having that experience sometime soon, maybe over seas in a proper all inclusive resort.

One day I hope to do that and have all my friends and family with me, all of us just sitting back and relaxing without a care in the world.
