Boots For Riding

I've only been horse back riding twice in my life, it could even be one time, at the time I don't remember wearing riding boots, most probably I was wearing old sneakers. I can see how riding boots would be useful, making the ride more comfortable and less strenuous. I remember the one for sure time I rode and it was pretty uncomfortable, maybe if I had the right gears it would have been less so.
