Need a New Mattress

I've had my current bed for about 15 years now and I'm starting to think about getting a new one, would be nice to get a custom mattress though, something that just fits me. Anyway, my old mattress just seems to be falling apart, sharp springs poking through, I don't understand why they wouldn't cap those things or smooth them out at least, they're as sharp as needles.
