These are the first two carvings I ever carved, both are the size of large plums and are carved from Tagua Nut also known as Vegetable Ivory, it's a great material to carve, pretty hard, though a little brittle. The mouse was also my first attempt at carving a Netsuke.

Nice work, Rand! I've been wanting to give that tagua stuff a try...
ReplyDeleteYou can some pretty nice results with the nut, though when working with it it can be a little brittle.
