I went to the hospital about a month ago because I had cut a good part off of one of my finger, well it was hanging there. It's all good now, healing quite nicely. I hadn't been to the doctor for years prior to this and what I noticed most were the prices, I waited 3 hours, busy night there, was seen for about 15 minutes and it cost me $39, which from my memory of my prior visit is a huge increase in billing. Maybe if I had some insurance, maybe like some
NC health insurance, that cash would still be in my pocket.
The Census bureau released a seasonal newsletter on interesting factoids related to the holiday. According to their estimates, the per capital consumption of candy by Americans in 2007 was 24.5 pounds. And a recent News and Observer article says that people are not going to cut back this year because of the recession:Despite the spooky state of the economy, shoppers are still shelling out money for Halloween candy. This year, candy sales are expected to top $2.26 billion, according to the National Confectioners Association. That’s up from $2.20 billion last year. The reason is simple: People view Halloween as an affordable splurge and something that promotes time with family.
