Grilling in Winter

Well, summer is over down here and I didn't even put anything on the grill, quite a shame, problem is I'm to used to cooking with gas and all we have is a charcoal BBQ which if you're used to gas is very difficult to use, first time we used it we didn't realize how long it took, and that it was supposed to take time. The taste however is worlds apart from cooking with gas, I want to hot smoke something and just because it's winter doesn't mean I can't.
