The Patterson Gimlin Bigfoot Video

The Bigfoot footage was shot by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin in 1967 in Bluff Creek, California and has got to be the most well known Sasquatch footage ever, I just read that it is said to be the second most viewed footage ever after the Zapruder footage.

The above version is stabilized and has some close-up shots of notable features.

There is to much debate over whether it is a hoax or if it is authentic, to much for me to cover anyway, I'm a nood on the matter, but let me point you to a few sources that explore the footage better. The first is from oregonbigfoot.com, it's a very long read and includes the history of the film along with popular articles about it from 1967 up until recent times.

Another place the check out is a sub forum on the bigfootforums.com that is dedicated to the Patterson and Gimlin Footage, you'll probably find a lot of links and such related to the footage there, anything of note is most likely, plus a lot of discussion about it's authenticity.

I made this post and will most likely make many more like it because frankly I haven't posted about most of the more famous paranormal videos out there. This stuff should be here, these videos are the back bone of the paranormal.

First off, that period music rocks (who is it?). I don't really believe there is a bigfoot but this clip seems so real to me. If it was faked they did an incredible job. The costume is hollywood grade including a remarkable face and convincing undersoles. The behavior is believable and understated. I thought I heard someone fessed up and said it was staged (I'll read the links). I'll always love this video.

  2. Here's a link to a news article about Bob Heironimus.

He said he was the man in the suit.

There's also a lot of threads about him on the bigfoot forums.

I waste so much time looking at stabilized gifs of this film it isn't funny, It's so hypnotising.

I don't believe the Heironimus confession. I live near Bluff Creek where this was filmed and we still have Bigfoot sightings regularly. Some of the people having these sightings are very credible people well known in our community including forest service personnel.

Anyhow, I like your site and will link to it on mine.

Phil - I used to think the same thing. But when you actually see a guy in a costume you can tell immediately it's fake; the fur looks cheap, you can't make out muscles under the fur, the legs/arms ratio still looks too human-like, etc. And this was filmed in 1967? I'm no longer sure what I'm seeing.

Oh, and that's Syd Barrett/Pink Floyd!

I still can read some sceptical people who don't believe this video. I've seen a doc where they tried to show it was a fake. But when they asked some specialists about the way the creature is walking, about some details that Mr Evereybody have no idea about, there were answers, scientifics answers. The conclusion (which think it's not a fake) was that it can't be a fake, cause there are details that can only created per somebody extremely well informed scientifically. Then, why ?
    I hope I'm understandable.
