Opinions needed on a ghost photo

Photo (c) of Becci

I was sent this photo by a lady named Becci who has a blog called Becci's Bungalow, I don't usually get to many emails from people sending me ghostly images so this was a real treat. My first thought upon seeing the photo was "apparition" seeing that you can see a profile view of a face really clearly, if you put it into photoshop and adjust the brightness a little the features become more prominent.

Becci also gave me a little history about the photo, the photo is of her mom and her moms two sisters, their mom had passed away a few years before this photo was taken and was taken in Richmond, Michigan. Becci says that the ghostly profile in the lower right hand corner resembles her great grandmother.

I asked Becci if I could blog about this photo to get some more expert opinions about it and she was happy for me to share it.

So what does everyone think?, I think it's a really good example of a ghost photo.

  2. Why is the photo so small? It is suspicious to me that it is so small.

  3. This is just the the type of picture that drives me crazy. It is a old photo and may have been damaged any where from the loading of the film, to the week before last. It doesn't look like a fake or double exposure. The face is slightly distorted and elongated, making it unlike a double exposure. The size and style would make it likely from an old fold out belows camera. Any debunker would say a pinhole light leak may have taken an image from the side of the camera of some one standing there. But in my experience with lots of old cameras I have never had this happen, light leaks just screw up the whole roll with a fog line across the photos. For some reason these old cameras get a lot of "ghost pictures". It could be caused by the old non coated lens pass more of the light spectrum and old film was more sensitive with higher silver content. It's not easy to fake something like this unless you are highly skilled.

  4. Things just like this are very easy to make in photoshop. That is why I wonder about the file size. Why shrink it unless someone is trying to hide detail that might give it away. If this person is serious then let's see the original scan rather than the tiny web version.

  5. Hello all, I'm a well rounded psychic and I seem to have a knack for doing distance readings and readings through pictures. I was going to do a reading for Becci on this pic until I, just as dr.fong has posted above, went to take a closer look at it and found out that it could not be made larger.
    Very strange... I say too.
Mostly people when they ask for help with pictures such as these are more accomadating.
The one entity on the right is very prominent (which is unusual or rare from what I have seen, if it is real) but I need to have a closer look to see if there are any other energies present around the girls. Also what the energy is doing around the elbow of the girl on the right and on her arm.
There is also a black round dot on the far left of the photo?
So Becci I can do a nice reading for you but we need to have a copy that can be made bigger.

  6. Maybe I should have mentioned in my origional post that I had a feeling that Becci just happened across my blog and happened to have a scan of her photo on her computer, so she sent me what she had at the moment.

She also sent me an email before I posted the photo that she was looking for the origional photo.

I have also just gotten another email from Becci saying that she scanned this image about 5 years ago and that the phsyical image is the same size as what is seen here, when she finds it she wants to scan it again with her newest scanner.

I have quite a few old photos myself and they are all really small.

Oh, the black dot in the botton lefthand corner is a copyright symbol.

  7. Hi all...I have searched some places here at home for this photo, but am going to the bank to check my safety deposit box, where I have about 4 tin-photos put away too...I DID just come across Dale's site, I was excited to just share the photo I had with him. It is the orginal size of 3.167 by 3.931. But I did scan this in 02, and I was fairly new to computers then. I will be back to post here after my search tomorrow...I wish I KNEW enough to 'doctor" a photo, but lol, I use mine for email, photos and my new blog...(which isnt anything special, since I see there are such good writers out there ..lol)..I will answer any questions I can...and Waterfalls? I freaked when I "saw" that "energy" around my moms elbow...never realized that was there. Thanks Dale for letting me be involved, even though I am such a novice!

It does look like a face. But people's minds do have a habit of trying to process data into known images. Ever sat gazing at clouds and watched them as they keep changing shape: a dog one moment, then a face, a car etc.

The question is, what could it be? It may very well be a ghostly apparition and I do believe in ghosts, but if it that is the case I would expect the face to appear higher up and not at little more than ground level. If a flash was used when taking the picture my guess would be that a reflective object has reflected the flash. My second guess would be that, at some point, the film has been contaminated by a light source.

Just an opinion here: I am no expert, and I do believe in ghosts, but I don't think I am seeing one here.

  9. Hiya,
That little black circle on the left hand, bottom side is a copy write marker...
Who or why is that there?
    Just a quick question..

  10. Hey there, I get sent photos on a regular basis and this one is nice to look at. My heart says it could look almost like a gateway opening but my head says it looks like a chemical burn on the photo ... possibly on the neg to but I'd say chemical either way.

    Nice shot though.
